: Well the needle is kind of like a fiber optic, but not really. The principle is the same light travels through the plastic core illuminating it as it goes. If you paint over the needle you will cover it's surface up and the light may not be able to get through. Either way i personally would not try it. Just leave it as is, it looks awsome, a little color variation is good don't over do it with the yellow.
